GIMP Tool Kit, GTK

GTK and Qt are two other Widget sets that are becoming increasingly popular. Both are under GPL license now. They are include in most of the distributions, RedHat also has it. You can read the GTK tutorial here. If you are serious about learning GTK, I would recommend buying a book.
